Lions 2018 First Official Training April 3, 2018

It’s that time of year again!  The Lions kick off with our first official training of 2018 on Tuesday April 3, 2018 at 6 p.m. at Doyle Elementary School.  We are excited for a new year, and we will again focus on making the club successful both on and off the field. We have a full fixture scheduled including trips to Arizona, Sacramento for the Western Regional Tournament and the National Tournament in Racine, Wisconsin.

As always, new players are welcome, and no experience is necessary!

Training Details

More information on training details can be found on the training page.

When: Tuesdays and Thursdays 6-8PM  beginning April 3rd, 2018 though September 6th, 2018.
Where: Doyle Elementary at 3950 Berino Ct, San Diego, CA 92122. This field is the elementary school, not Doyle Rec Center which is next door.  The field is towards the back of the parking lot, at the very South end.

2018 Player Dues

2018 Co-Ed Touch Footy League

Join us for the co-ed, non-contact version of Australia’s favorite game. Footy is a game based on Australian Football (which is NOT rugby). It is a fun-filled, energetic, co-educational, tag version of the game. This laid back social league is a great way for beginners from children to adults to try the sport. New players are mixed in with veteran players to ensure healthy competition, and skills training is provided for all new players.

What is Footy?

Imagine soccer, volleyball and basketball rolled into one cool game where everyone gets to be the quarterback at the same time. Another way to think about it is that Footy is like Ultimate Frisbee, with a few twists. The ball is passed quickly from player to player by either handpassing or kicking. There is no turnover rule, so the ball is almost always “live” resulting in a fast, free flowing game where everyone is involved. Scoring is usually frequent, so games are not only fun to play, but fast and exciting to watch!

The rules are simple and easy to learn (it will take about 10 minutes) and NO EXPERIENCE is required. In fact, we encourage it as the game is designed for complete novices! We’ll supply all the gear all you need to do is come dressed to play in shorts and shoes (cleats if you have them, they are not necessary).

There will be Social Events after each Co-Ed Footy Match, including the 11th anniversary of our World Famous Pie Day on March 10, 2018!
