Pie Day! Saturday, 3/10

Join us for our 11th Annual Pie Day!

Although we’ll be without Jan at the helm making her amazing meat pies, we’ll do our best in her stead with all the experienced meat pie building assistants.

One of the Lions great traditions, Pie Day is a great opportunity to catch up with old mates, welcome new faces around the club and charge into a new footy season. Join us for a great afternoon filled with homemade meat pies, libations and good cheer.

Pie Day directly follows our last session of Co-Ed Footy!

Everyone is welcome and we’d love for you to join us!

  • Meet & Greet – This is the best place to catch up with old mates and welcome new ones to the club.
  • Quarter Toss – This old favorite is back! Think carnival coin toss game in a bar.
  • Beer, Wine & Soda – Yes, they’re included! (Bob and Jan are in Norway, but they left behind a keg of his home brew).
  • Corn Hole Tournament – A good outlet for those competitive juices before the official footy season starts
  • Handball Game

All this for the very reasonable price of $25. All proceeds directly benefit the club!

2018 Co-Ed Touch Footy League

Join us for the co-ed, non-contact version of Australia’s favorite game. Footy is a game based on Australian Football (which is NOT rugby). It is a fun-filled, energetic, co-educational, tag version of the game. This laid back social league is a great way for beginners from children to adults to try the sport. New players are mixed in with veteran players to ensure healthy competition, and skills training is provided for all new players.

What is Footy?

Imagine soccer, volleyball and basketball rolled into one cool game where everyone gets to be the quarterback at the same time. Another way to think about it is that Footy is like Ultimate Frisbee, with a few twists. The ball is passed quickly from player to player by either handpassing or kicking. There is no turnover rule, so the ball is almost always “live” resulting in a fast, free flowing game where everyone is involved. Scoring is usually frequent, so games are not only fun to play, but fast and exciting to watch!

The rules are simple and easy to learn (it will take about 10 minutes) and NO EXPERIENCE is required. In fact, we encourage it as the game is designed for complete novices! We’ll supply all the gear all you need to do is come dressed to play in shorts and shoes (cleats if you have them, they are not necessary).

There will be Social Events after each Co-Ed Footy Match, including the 11th anniversary of our World Famous Pie Day on March 10, 2018!
